Workout Day 2

My warmup today comes in the form of biking to school (specifically, the track in north campus) which is about a 2.5mi ride from my apartment. I met up with my roomie Frank, who will be running the half-marathon too as well as the full marathon at the end of May.

We started our 50-minute jog today with a loop around the eucalyptus tree grove just east of ERC/RIMAC, which is a neat dirt trail with some elevation changes to hopefully better prep us for the hills at Del Mar & Torrey Pines. A “cool down” jog on the track followed at a nice and easy pace for about 15 minutes. To end the workout, we made a reverse loop around the dirt trail and made it back right around the 50-min mark.

I felt pretty solid towards the end of the run, and am plesantly surprised I could sustain a(n easy) jogging pace throughout the entire duration. Distance running has never been a strong event of mine, and the longest distance I believe I have ever attempted to cover was probably in the vicinity of 3-3.5 miles. Coming out from running workout hibernation and being able to finish ~4.5 miles today is a good start and progress towards the 13 miles at the end of April.
